We run the K-guild lunch café and supply the Guild with countless numbers of coffees!

What do we do in the Cafeteria Committee?

You will find us in the Cafeteria Committee behind the bar in Gallien where we during lunch sell coffee, cakes, patches and more. Every committee member has one scheduled lunch behind the bar each week. The Cafeteria Committee is also responsible for supplying goods to the café and to keep it neat and tidy behind the bar. To organize goods, keep track of dates and be involved in the continuous work throughout the year is among the most important responsibilities for the committee members. We also have baking evenings, where we meet up and bake cookies for the café to sell to all the Guild members.

When you work in the Cafeteria Committee you will learn to work in a fast paced environment, and get used to handling payments. Something special about the work in the Committee is that you get the chance to meet all the friendly faces from the Guild coming to the café. When you work in the lunch café you feel appreciated by the Guild and get a lot of big smiles!

Head of the Cafeteria Committee

My volunteer position is very rewarding, since you as the Head of the Cafeteria Committee get a good insight into what is really going on behind the scenes in a café business. A large part of the work is about planning and finances. It is also fun to work a lot with the group, to develop the café business together, while being the one who has the ultimate responsibility for making our work possible. As there is a lot to be done within the committee, it is important to be able to delegate tasks as Café Master.

Vice Head of the Cafeteria Committee

As Vice Head of the Cafeteria Committee, I work a lot together with the Head of the Cafeteria Committee, where my task is to help with the work and to brainstorm ideas with him or her. We work, for example, with setting a budget, planning orders, scheduling for who will be behind the bar and purchasing Guild merchandise. Part of my work is also to ensure that the large committee is coordinated. Like everyone else in the committee, I also stand behind the bar myself once a week. What makes the volunteer position as Vice Head of the Cafeteria Committee so fun is that you get to work with many different tasks. It makes the work varied and rewarding, and you get to learn a lot! No previous experience is required for the position, but it can be good to have an interest in finances, group dynamics and above all you should be willing to spend time on the committee during the entire function year.

Cafeteria Ion

As a Cafeteria Ion, I get the opportunity to meet and talk to people I might not otherwise have talked to. Here I get to learn how the cafe business works, which for example means handling the cash register, making the perfect coffee and handling new situations that may arise as no two days are the same. As Cafeteria Ion, I look for new ideas to improve the Café. For example, new products, perhaps over a cozy baking evening together with my committee members. The work is evenly distributed over the year and no previous experience is required.

Bakis

As Bakers we are responsible for the assortment of homemade goods during Bakers Days. We are the ones shopping for ingredients, baking (with help from the committee) and calculating prices. It is a position that requires being self-sufficient since we are responsible for what is being served, how much is being made and communicating the decision to the others in the committee. Us Bakers work closely together. As a Baker I am not expected to stand behind the bar, but occasionally I do when a Cafeteria Ion is sick.
